शिखरं सूर्यसङ्काशं व्यशीर्यत सहस्रधा । व्यवसायं च तं बुद्ध्वा स होवाच महागिरिः ॥ ५-५८-११

zikharaM sUryasaGkAzaM vyazIryata sahasradhA । vyavasAyaM ca taM buddhvA sa hovAca mahAgiriH ॥ 5-58-11

पुत्त्रेति मधुरां वाणीं मनः प्रह्लादयन्निव । पितृव्यं चापि मां विद्धि सखायं मातरिश्वनः ॥ ५-५८-१२

- to me in a sweet tone delighting my heart, addressing me like a son ''Know me to be a friend of windgod and so I am like your father's brother. ॥ 5-58-12॥

english translation

puttreti madhurAM vANIM manaH prahlAdayanniva । pitRvyaM cApi mAM viddhi sakhAyaM mAtarizvanaH ॥ 5-58-12

मैनाकमिति विख्यातं निवसन्तं महोदधौ । पक्षवन्तः पुरा पुत्त्र बभूवुः पर्वतोत्तमाः ॥ ५-५८-१३

'I am dwelling in this great ocean and known as Mainaka. O son in the past, foremost of the mountains too had wings . - ॥ 5-58-13॥

english translation

mainAkamiti vikhyAtaM nivasantaM mahodadhau । pakSavantaH purA puttra babhUvuH parvatottamAH ॥ 5-58-13

छन्दतः पृथिवीं चेरुर्बाधमानाः समन्ततः । श्रुत्वा नगानां चरितं महेन्द्रः पाकशासनः ॥ ५-५८-१४

- and they used to range at will all over the earth tormenting all. Mahendra, the killer of ogre Paka, heard the story (of the cruel deeds) of mountains . - ॥ 5-58-14॥

chandataH pRthivIM cerurbAdhamAnAH samantataH । zrutvA nagAnAM caritaM mahendraH pAkazAsanaH ॥ 5-58-14

चिच्छेद भगवान् पक्षान्वज्रेणैषां सहस्रशः । अहं तु मोक्षितस्तस्मात्तव पित्रा महात्मना ॥ ५-५८-१५

- and (God, Indra the lord of celestials) cut off their wings into a thousand pieces with his thunderbolt. I was saved from Indra by your kind father the high-souled . - ॥ 5-58-15॥

ciccheda bhagavAn pakSAnvajreNaiSAM sahasrazaH । ahaM tu mokSitastasmAttava pitrA mahAtmanA ॥ 5-58-15
