विनष्टशीताम्बुतुषारपङ्को महाग्रहग्राहविनष्टपङ्कः | प्रकाशलक्ष्म्याश्रयनिर्मलाङ्क: रराज चन्द्रो भगवान् शशाङ्कः || ५-५-६

sanskrit

With the Sun, the great planet (star), destroying the frost that forms the dew, the Moon with its stain shone with graceful radiance. [5-5-6]

english translation

vinaSTazItAmbutuSArapaGko mahAgrahagrAhavinaSTapaGkaH | prakAzalakSmyAzrayanirmalAGka: rarAja candro bhagavAn zazAGkaH || 5-5-6

hk transliteration

शिलातलं प्राप्य यथा मृगेन्द्रो महारणं प्राप्य यथा गजेन्द्रः | राज्यं समासाद्य यथा नरेन्द्र स्तथाप्रकाशो विरराज चन्द्रः || ५-५-७

sanskrit

The Moon shone bright like a lion mounted on a rock, like a lordly elephant in a deep forest, like a king on attaining the kingdom. [5-5-7]

english translation

zilAtalaM prApya yathA mRgendro mahAraNaM prApya yathA gajendraH | rAjyaM samAsAdya yathA narendra stathAprakAzo virarAja candraH || 5-5-7

प्रकाशचन्द्रोदयनष्टदोषः प्रवृत्तरक्षः पिशिताशदोषः | रामाभिरामेरितचित्तदोषः स्वर्गप्रकाशो भगवान् प्रदोषः || ५-५-८

sanskrit

At the time of moonrise, the darkness of dusk is dispelled, the dark deeds of cannibals disappear, the natural instinct for love returns to women as the radiance of the Moon spreads everywhere like in heaven. [5-5-8]

english translation

prakAzacandrodayanaSTadoSaH pravRttarakSaH pizitAzadoSaH | rAmAbhirAmeritacittadoSaH svargaprakAzo bhagavAn pradoSaH || 5-5-8

तन्त्रीस्वनाः कर्णसुखाः प्रवृत्ताः स्वपन्ति नार्यः पतिभिः सुवृत्ताः | नक्तंचराश्चापि तथा प्रवृत्ता: विहर्तुमत्यद्भुतरौद्रवृत्ताः || ५-५-९

Pleasing sounds of string instruments had begun to be heard. Chaste women were found asleep with their husbands.The nightrangers had begun their strange (evil and cruel) deeds exhibiting their anger. [5-5-9]

english translation

tantrIsvanAH karNasukhAH pravRttAH svapanti nAryaH patibhiH suvRttAH | naktaMcarAzcApi tathA pravRttA: vihartumatyadbhutaraudravRttAH || 5-5-9

hk transliteration

मत्तप्रमत्तानि समाकुलानि रथाश्वभद्रासनसङ्कुलानि | वीरश्रिया चापि समाकुलानि ददर्श धीमान् स कपिः कुलानि || ५-५-१०

sanskrit

Intelligent Hanuman, the great warrior, observed there in the prosperous mansions, demons proud of their wealth, highly intoxicated and dull, their houses full of horse drawn chariots with comfortable seats. [5-5-10]

english translation

mattapramattAni samAkulAni rathAzvabhadrAsanasaGkulAni | vIrazriyA cApi samAkulAni dadarza dhImAn sa kapiH kulAni || 5-5-10
