काञ्चनेनावृतां रम्यां प्राकारेण महापुरीम् । गृहैश्च ग्रहसंकाशैः शारदाम्बुदसन्निभैः ॥ ५-२-१६
It was protected by boundary walls inlaid with gold that great and beautiful city with houses like autumnal clouds resembling the assembly of planets. ॥ 5-2-16॥

There were hundreds of elevated buildings and well laid out, whitewashed streets decorated with garlands of banners, flag posts - ॥ 5-2-17॥

- golden rows of colourful creepers and wonderful festoons. Hanuman saw the city of Lanka appeared like Amaravati, the city of gods. ॥ 5-2-18॥

The foremost among the vanaras, perched on top of the mountain saw the city of Lanka on the mountain with auspicious mansions as though touching the sky. ॥ 5-2-19॥

The city of Lanka, ruled by the lord of demons and built by Vishvakarma looked as if it was a city floating in the sky. ॥ 5-2-20॥
