    तां पुरीं तादृशीं दृष्ट्वा दुराधर्षां सुरासुरैः | हनुमान् चिन्तयामास विनिश्चित्य मुहुर्मुहुः || ५-२-३६

    Looking at the city, unassailable even to gods and demons, Hanuman sighed again and again thinking : - [5-2-36]

    केनोपायेन पश्येयं मैथिलीं जनकात्मजाम् | अदृष्टो राक्षसेन्द्रेण रावणेन दुरात्मना || ५-२-३७

    - 'By what means can I find Maithili, daughter of Janaka, without being noticed by the evil-minded Ravana, the lord of demons? [5-2-37]

    न विनश्येत्कथं कार्यं रामस्य विदितात्मनः | एकामेकश्च वश्येयं रहिते जनकात्मजाम् || ५-२-३८

    'How can the purpose of Rama, a noble soul be not spoilt and I may have a private audience with the daughter of Janaka. [5-2-38]

    भूताश्चार्था विपद्यन्ते देशकालविरोधिताः | विक्लबं दूतमासाद्य तमः सूर्योदये यथा || ५-२-३९

    'Just as darkness disappears at Sunrise, wellplanned strategies also fail at the hands of a thoughtless messenger when they are set in opposition to proper time and place. [5-2-39]

    अर्थानर्थान्तरे बुद्धिर्निश्चितापि न शोभते | घातयन्ति हि कार्याणि दूताः पण्डितमानिनः || ५-२-४०

    'Even though messengers are not intelligent, they think themselves clever and capable. They act foolishly, swerve from proper course of action and fail in their effort. [5-2-40]
