संसारकूपे पतितं विषयैर्मुषितेक्षणम् । ग्रस्तं कालाहिनाऽऽत्मानं कोऽन्यस्त्रातुमधीश्वरः ॥ ११-८-४१ ॥
The intelligence of the living entity is stolen away by activities of sense gratification, and thus he falls into the dark well of material existence. Within that well he is then seized by the deadly serpent of time. Who else but the Supreme Personality of Godhead could save the poor living entity from such a hopeless condition? ॥ 11-8-41 ॥

जीव की बुद्धि इंद्रियतृप्ति की गतिविधियों द्वारा चुरा ली जाती है, और इस प्रकार वह भौतिक अस्तित्व के अंधेरे कुएं में गिर जाता है। उस कुएं के भीतर वह समय के घातक सांप द्वारा पकड़ लिया जाता है। भगवान के अलावा और कौन उस गरीब जीव को ऐसी निराशाजनक स्थिति से बचा सकता है? ॥ ११-८-४१ ॥

आत्मैव ह्यात्मनो गोप्ता निर्विद्येत यदाखिलात् । अप्रमत्त इदं पश्येद्ग्रस्तं कालाहिना जगत् ॥ ११-८-४२ ॥
When the living entity sees that the entire universe has been seized by the serpent of time, he becomes sober and sane and at that time detaches himself from all material sense gratification. In that condition the living entity is qualified to be his own protector. ॥ 11-8-42 ॥

जब जीव देखता है कि पूरे ब्रह्मांड को समय के साँप ने पकड़ लिया है, तो वह शांत और स्वस्थ हो जाता है और उस समय खुद को सभी भौतिक इंद्रिय संतुष्टि से अलग कर लेता है। उस स्थिति में जीव स्वयं अपना रक्षक बनने के योग्य है। ॥ ११-८-४२ ॥

ब्राह्मण उवाच एवं व्यवसितमतिर्दुराशां कान्ततर्षजाम् । छित्त्वोपशममास्थाय शय्यामुपविवेश सा ॥ ११-८-४३ ॥
The avadhūta said: Thus, her mind completely made up, Piṅgalā cut off all her sinful desires to enjoy sex pleasure with lovers, and she became situated in perfect peace. Then she sat down on her bed. ॥ 11-8-43 ॥

अवधूत ने कहा: इस प्रकार, उसका मन पूरी तरह से तय हो गया, पिंगला ने प्रेमियों के साथ यौन सुख का आनंद लेने की अपनी सभी पापपूर्ण इच्छाओं को काट दिया, और वह पूर्ण शांति में स्थित हो गई। फिर वह अपने बिस्तर पर बैठ गयी. ॥ ११-८-४३ ॥

आशा हि परमं दुःखं नैराश्यं परमं सुखम् । यथा सञ्छिद्य कान्ताशां सुखं सुष्वाप पिङ्गला ॥ ११-८-४४ ॥
Material desire is undoubtedly the cause of the greatest unhappiness, and freedom from such desire is the cause of the greatest happiness. Therefore, completely cutting off her desire to enjoy so-called lovers, Piṅgalā very happily went to sleep. ॥ 11-8-44 ॥

भौतिक इच्छा निस्संदेह सबसे बड़े दुःख का कारण है, और ऐसी इच्छा से मुक्ति ही सबसे बड़े सुख का कारण है। इसलिए, तथाकथित प्रेमियों से आनंद लेने की अपनी इच्छा को पूरी तरह से त्यागकर, पिंगला बहुत खुशी से सो गई। ॥ ११-८-४४ ॥
