प्रासादशिखरारूढाः कुरुनार्यो दिदृक्षया । ववृषुः कुसुमैः कृष्णं प्रेमव्रीडास्मितेक्षणाः ।। १-१०-१६ ।।

sanskrit

Out of a loving desire to see the Lord, the royal ladies of the Kurus got up on top of the palace, and smiling with affection and shyness, they showered flowers upon the Lord. ।। 1-10-16 ।।

english translation

भगवान् को देखने की प्रेममयी इच्छा से कुरुओं की राजवंशी स्त्रियाँ राजमहल की छत पर चढ़ गईं और स्नेह तथा लज्जा से युक्त हँसती हुई भगवान् पर पुष्पों की वर्षा करने लगीं। ।। १-१०-१६ ।।

सितातपत्रं जग्राह मुक्तादामविभूषितम् । रत्नदण्डं गुडाकेशः प्रियः प्रियतमस्य ह ।। १-१०-१७ ।।

sanskrit

At that time Arjuna, the great warrior and conqueror of sleep, who is the intimate friend of the most beloved Supreme Lord, took up an umbrella which had a handle of jewels and was embroidered with lace and pearls. ।। 1-10-17 ।।

english translation

उस समय महान् योद्धा तथा निद्रा को जीतनेवाले अर्जुन ने, जो परम प्रिय भगवान् का घनिष्ठ मित्र था, एक छाता ले लिया जिसका हत्था रत्नों का था और जिसमें मोतियों की झालर लगी थी। ।। १-१०-१७ ।।

उद्धवः सात्यकिश्चैव व्यजने परमाद्भुते । विकीर्यमाणः कुसुमै रेजे मधुपतिः पथि ।। १-१०-१८ ।।

Uddhava and Sātyaki began to fan the Lord with decorated fans, and the Lord, as the master of Madhu, seated on scattered flowers, commanded them along the road. ।। 1-10-18 ।।

english translation

उद्धव तथा सात्यकि अलंकृत पंखों से भगवान् पर पंखा झलने लगे और मधु के स्वामी कृष्ण ने बिखरे हुए पुष्पों पर आसीन होकर उन्हें मार्ग पर चलने के लिए आदेश दिया। ।। १-१०-१८ ।।

अश्रूयन्ताशिषः सत्यास्तत्र तत्र द्विजेरिताः । नानुरूपानुरूपाश्च निर्गुणस्य गुणात्मनः ।। १-१०-१९ ।।

sanskrit

It was being heard here and there that the benedictions being paid to Kṛṣṇa were neither befitting nor unbefitting because they were all for the Absolute, who was now playing the part of a human being. ।। 1-10-19 ।।

english translation

जहाँ-तहाँ यह सुनाई पड़ रहा था कि कृष्ण को दिये गये आशीर्वाद, न तो उनके उपयुक्त हैं, न अनुपयुक्त, क्योंकि वे सब उन परम पुरुष के लिए थे जो इस समय मनुष्य की भूमिका निभा रहे थे। ।। १-१०-१९ ।।

अन्योन्यमासीत्सञ्जल्प उत्तमश्लोकचेतसाम् । कौरवेन्द्रपुरस्त्रीणां सर्वश्रुतिमनोहरः ।। १-१०-२० ।।

sanskrit

Absorbed in the thought of the transcendental qualities of the Lord, who is sung in select poetry, the ladies on the roofs of all the houses of Hastināpura began to talk of Him. This talk was more attractive than the hymns of the Vedas. ।। 1-10-20 ।।

english translation

चुने हुए छन्दों से जिनकी स्तुति की जाती है, ऐसे भगवान् के दिव्य गुणों के विचार में डूबीं, हस्तिनापुर के सभी घरों की छतों पर चढ़ी हुई स्त्रियाँ, उनके विषय में बातें करने लगीं। ये बातें वैदिक स्तोत्रों से कहीं अधिक आकर्षक थीं। ।। १-१०-२० ।।
