इह त्वं जातसंवृद्धः साक्षाद्भ्राता पितुर्मम । कथं द्रुह्यसि पुत्रस्य पितृव्यो मम राक्षस ॥ ६-८७-११
"O Rakshasa! You are born and brought up here. You are a direct brother to my father and a paternal uncle to me. How can you be hostile to a son?" [6-87-11]
english translation
न ज्ञातित्वं न सौहार्दं न जातिस्तव दुर्मते । प्रमाणं न च सोदर्यं न धर्मो धर्मदूषण ॥ ६-८७-१२
"Evil minded Vibheeshana! You are vitiating righteousness, have no value to your race, no affection to your clan, no brotherly feeling and have no righteousness." [6-87-12]
english translation
शोच्यस्त्वमसि दुर्बुद्धे निन्दनीयश्च साधुभिः । यस्त्वं स्वजनमुत्सृज्य परभृत्यत्वमागतः ॥ ६-८७-१३
"You are evil minded, think. You are pitiable and to be blamed for you have abandoned your own people and sought the enemy's protection." [6-87-13]
english translation
नैतच्छिथिलया बुद्ध्या त्वं वेत्सि महदन्तरम् । क्व च स्वजनसंवासः क्व च नीचपराश्रयः ॥ ६-८७-१४
"You do not seem to have an understanding of the difference between living with one's own people and seeking refuge from strangers. Your intellect has slackened you are not knowing." [6-87-14]
english translation
गुणवान्वा परजनः स्वजनो निर्गुणोऽपि वा । निर्गुणः स्वजनः श्रेयान्यः परः पर एव सः ॥ ६-८७-१५
"Even if others are virtuous and your own people are not virtuous also one should seek the refuge of one's own people. Strangers are always strangers." [6-87-15]
