भक्षार्थं जातसंरम्भा गर्जन्ती साभ्यधावत । आपतन्तीं तु तां दृष्ट्वा अगस्त्यो भगवानृषिः ॥ १-२५-११
- With desperation brewing in her she roaringly rushed towards the sage with excitement to devour him. The venerable rishi Agastya saw her approaching him - ॥ 1-25-11॥

bhakSArthaM jAtasaMrambhA garjantI sAbhyadhAvata । ApatantIM tu tAM dRSTvA agastyo bhagavAnRSiH ॥ 1-25-11
hk transliteration by Sanscriptराक्षसत्वं भजस्वेति मारीचं व्याजहार सः । अगस्त्यः परमामर्षस्ताटकामपि शप्तवान् ॥ १-२५-१२
- the godly saint Agastya cursed Mareecha saying, 'you will attain demon-hood.' Highly infuriated sage Agastya even cursed Tataka saying - ॥ 1-25-12॥

rAkSasatvaM bhajasveti mArIcaM vyAjahAra saH । agastyaH paramAmarSastATakAmapi zaptavAn ॥ 1-25-12
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपुरुषादी महायक्षी विरूपा विकृतानना । इदं रूपं विहायाशु दारुणं रूपमस्तु ते ॥ १-२५-१३
- 'Abandon this form of a great yakshini and assume the terrible figure of a rakshasi, a cannibal with distorted appearance and a hideous countenance'. - ॥ 1-25-13॥

puruSAdI mahAyakSI virUpA vikRtAnanA । idaM rUpaM vihAyAzu dAruNaM rUpamastu te ॥ 1-25-13
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसैषा शापकृतामर्षा ताटका क्रोधमूर्च्छिता । देशमुत्सादयत्येनमगस्त्याचरितं शुभम् ॥ १-२५-१४
- Enraged at the curse, senseless, Tataka with anger, has been ravaging this sacred land when Agastya walked. - ॥ 1-25-12॥

saiSA zApakRtAmarSA tATakA krodhamUrcchitA । dezamutsAdayatyenamagastyAcaritaM zubham ॥ 1-25-14
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएनां राघवदुर्वृत्तां यक्षीं परमदारुणाम् । गोब्राह्मणहितार्थाय जहि दुष्टपराक्रमाम् ॥ १-२५-१५
- Oh ! Rama, for the welfare of cows and brahmins, slay this yakshini who is wicked, extremely cruel and possessing vile prowess. - ॥ 1-25-15॥

enAM rAghavadurvRttAM yakSIM paramadAruNAm । gobrAhmaNahitArthAya jahi duSTaparAkramAm ॥ 1-25-15
