रामाभिषेकसंकल्पान्निगृह्य विनिवर्तय । अनर्थमर्थरूपेण ग्राहिता सा ततस्तया ॥ २-९-३६

हृष्टा प्रतीता कैकेयी मन्थरामिदमब्रवीत् । सा हि वाक्येन कुब्जायाः किशोरीवोत्पथं गता ॥ २-९-३७

- Kaikeyi understood (the entire matter) and in delight spoke to Manthara. At the words of the hunchback and chose a wrong path like a young (immature) girl, that . - ॥ 2-9-37॥

कैकेयी विस्मयं प्राप्ता परं परमदर्शना । कुब्जे त्वां नाभिजानामि श्रेष्ठां श्रेष्ठभिधायिनीम् ॥ २-९-३८

- Kaikeyi expressed her sense of wonder even though endowed with sound foresight. ( Kaikeyi said ) 'Oh ! hunchback ( Manthara ), I never knew that you can speak such excellent words . - ॥ 2-9-38॥

kaikeyI vismayaM prAptA paraM paramadarzanA । kubje tvAM nAbhijAnAmi zreSThAM zreSThabhidhAyinIm ॥ 2-9-38

पृथिव्यामसि कुब्जानामुत्तमा बुद्धिनिर्णये । त्वमेव तु ममार्थेषु नित्ययुक्ता हितैषिणी ॥ २-९-३९

- or decide things intelligently. You are the best among the hunchbacks of this world. You alone always show interest in my affairs and seek my welfare. ॥ 2-9-39॥

pRthivyAmasi kubjAnAmuttamA buddhinirNaye । tvameva tu mamArtheSu nityayuktA hitaiSiNI ॥ 2-9-39

नाहं समवबुद्ध्येयं कुब्जे राज्ञश्चिकीर्षितम् । सन्ति दुःसंस्थिताः कुब्जा वक्राः परमदारुणाः ॥ २-९-४०

Oh ! hunchback ( Manthara ), I might not have known the intended (deceptive) action of the king (without you). There are many hunchbacks in this world, terribly ugly with their bodies misshaped and crooked. ॥ 2-9-40॥

nAhaM samavabuddhyeyaM kubje rAjJazcikIrSitam । santi duHsaMsthitAH kubjA vakrAH paramadAruNAH ॥ 2-9-40
