अहो तम इवेदं स्यान्नप्रज्ञायेत किञ्चन । राजा चेन्न भवेल्लोके विभजन् साध्वसाधुनी ॥ २-६७-३६
If the king did not show the distinction between the good and evil actions, this world would have been enveloped by darkness. Nothing could have been seen. How great (is the king)? ॥ 2-67-36॥
english translation
aho tama ivedaM syAnnaprajJAyeta kiJcana । rAjA cenna bhavelloke vibhajan sAdhvasAdhunI ॥ 2-67-36
hk transliteration by Sanscriptजीवत्यपि महाराजे तवैव वचनं वयम् । नातिक्रमामहे सर्वे वेलां प्राप्येव सागरः ॥ २-६७-३७
Even while the great king was alive, we never defied your ( Guru Vasistha ) word like the ocean which does not overstep its shore. ॥ 2-67-37॥
english translation
jIvatyapi mahArAje tavaiva vacanaM vayam । nAtikramAmahe sarve velAM prApyeva sAgaraH ॥ 2-67-37
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस न स्समीक्ष्य द्विजवर्य वृत्तं नृपं विना राज्यमरण्यभूतम् । कुमारमिक्ष्वाकुसुतं वदान्यं त्वमेव राजानमिहाभिषिञ्च ॥ २-६७-३८
Oh ! best of brahmins ( Vasistha ), considering all that has happened and knowing that a kingdom without a king is like a forest, you may consecrate a generous son from the Ikshvaku race as our king. ॥ 2-67-38॥
english translation
sa na ssamIkSya dvijavarya vRttaM nRpaM vinA rAjyamaraNyabhUtam । kumAramikSvAkusutaM vadAnyaM tvameva rAjAnamihAbhiSiJca ॥ 2-67-38
