यद्यप्येषा मम प्रीतिर्हितमन्यद्विचिन्त्यताम् । अन्या मद्यस्थचिन्ता हि विमर्दाभ्यधिकोदया ॥ २-२-१६
Although this is what I would like to do, yet, let there be thinking on any other beneficial way. Thinking by impartial neutral people will be distinctive and well developed through grinding of opposing views.' ॥ 2-2-16॥

yadyapyeSA mama prItirhitamanyadvicintyatAm । anyA madyasthacintA hi vimardAbhyadhikodayA ॥ 2-2-16
hk transliteration by Sanscriptइति ब्रुवन्तं मुदिताः प्रत्यनन्दन् नृपा नृपम् । वृष्टिमन्तं महामेघं नर्दन्त इव बर्हिणः ॥ २-२-१७
Those delighted kings complimented king Dasaratha so speaking with a loud applause as the peacocks cry in delight when they see the raining great cloud. ॥ 2-2-17॥

iti bruvantaM muditAH pratyanandan nRpA nRpam । vRSTimantaM mahAmeghaM nardanta iva barhiNaH ॥ 2-2-17
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस्निग्धोऽनुनादी संजज्ञे तत्र हर्षसमीरितः । जनौघोद्घुष्टसन्नादो विमानं कम्पयन्निव ॥ २-२-१८
There emanated cries of love and joy from the multitude of people (conveying their approval) whose reverberation seemed to shake the palace. ॥ 2-2-18॥

snigdho'nunAdI saMjajJe tatra harSasamIritaH । janaughodghuSTasannAdo vimAnaM kampayanniva ॥ 2-2-18
hk transliteration by Sanscriptतस्य धर्मार्थविदुषो भावमाज्ञाय सर्वशः । ब्राह्मणा जनमुख्याश्च पौरजानपदैः सह ॥ २-२-१९
Brahmins, kings and other prominent men, inhabitants of towns and villages having fully known the views of Dasharatha who was conversant with artha and dharma joined together and deliberated. ॥ 2-2-19॥

tasya dharmArthaviduSo bhAvamAjJAya sarvazaH । brAhmaNA janamukhyAzca paurajAnapadaiH saha ॥ 2-2-19
hk transliteration by Sanscriptसमेत्य मन्त्रयित्वा तु समतागतबुद्धयः । ऊचुश्च मनसा ज्ञात्वा वृद्धं दशरथं नृपम् ॥ २-२-२०
They thought out well and having arrived at unanimity in their thinking thus addressed the aged king Dasharatha. ॥ 2-2-20॥

sametya mantrayitvA tu samatAgatabuddhayaH । Ucuzca manasA jJAtvA vRddhaM dazarathaM nRpam ॥ 2-2-20
