एवम् प्रचोदितः राजा कैकेय्या निर्विशन्कया । न अशकत् पाशम् उन्मोक्तुम् बलिर् इन्द्र क्ऱ्तम् यथा ॥ २-१४-११

In this way urged by Kaikeyi without fear or hesitation, he (Dasharatha), like Bali unable to release himself from the noose cast by Indra (through Vamana Dev), could not get out of the noose of promise. [2-14-11]

english translation

उद्भ्रान्त ह्ऱ्दयः च अपि विवर्ण वनदो अभवत् । स धुर्यो वै परिस्पन्दन् युग चक्र अन्तरम् यथा॥ २-१४-१२

Like a bullock, restlessly moving between the wheels and the yoke, Dasaratha's heart started beating wildly and his face turned pale. [2-14-12]

english translation

विह्वलाभ्याम् च नेत्राभ्याम् अपश्यन्न् इव भूमिपः । क्ऱ्च्च्रात् धैर्येण संस्तभ्य कैकेयीम् इदम् अब्रवीत् ॥ २-१४-१३

The king was unable to see with his eyes overwhelmed (with tears). Gaining with great difficulty a firm footing and courage he addressed Kaikeyi [2-14-13]

english translation

यः ते मन्त्र क्ऱ्तः पाणिर् अग्नौ पापे मया ध्ऱ्तः । तम् त्यजामि स्वजम् चैव तव पुत्रम् सह त्वया ॥ २-१४-१४

- 'Oh ! wicked woman, I held your hand amid chantings of mantras with the sacred fire (as witness). I now disown that hand, you and your son begotten by me. [2-14-14]

english translation

प्रयाता रजनी देवि सूर्यस्योदयनं प्रति । अभिषेकं गुरुजन्स्त्वरयीष्यति मां ध्रुवम् ॥ २-१४-१५

Oh ! Devi ( Queen Kaikeyi ) the night has departed and the Sun is about to rise. The preceptors now will definitely ask me to hasten for the consecration. [2-14-15]
