नगरस्थो वनस्थो वा पापो वा यदि वा शुभः। यासां स्त्रीणां प्रियो भर्ता तासां लोका महोदयाः || २-११७-२२
One who is devoted to her husband, whether he be in the city or in the forest, whether he is sinful or virtuous, will attain the most prosperous worlds. [2-117-22]
Oh ! Sita, on reflection I know of none who is a better friend than the husband. He, like an imperishable penance, once acquired is never lost. [2-117-24]
न त्वेवमवगच्छन्ति गुणदोषमसत्त्स्रियः | कामवक्तव्यहृदया भर्तृनाथाश्चरन्ति याः || २-११७-२५
Those wicked women whose minds are overpowered by carnal desires, ranging at will as lords of their husbands, do not understand about vice and virtue. [2-117-25]
