1. 21

    अव्यक्तोऽक्षर इत्युक्तस्तमाहुः परमां गतिम् । यं प्राप्य न निवर्तन्ते तद्धाम परमं मम ॥ ८-२१॥

    What is called the Unmanifested and the Imperishable, That they say is the highest goal (Param-gati). They who reach It do not return (to this Sansar). That is My highest abode (eternal place or state).

  2. 22

    पुरुषः स परः पार्थ भक्त्या लभ्यस्त्वनन्यया । यस्यान्तःस्थानि भूतानि येन सर्वमिदं ततम् ॥ ८-२२॥

    That highest Purusha (parmatma), O Partha, is attainable by unswerving devotion to Him alone within Whom all beings dwell and by Whom all this is pervaded.

  3. 23

    यत्र काले त्वनावृत्तिमावृत्तिं चैव योगिनः । प्रयाता यान्ति तं कालं वक्ष्यामि भरतर्षभ ॥ ८-२३॥

    O best of the Bharata dynasty, I shall now speak of that time by departing at which the yogis attain the State of Non-return, and also (of the time by departing at which they attain) the State of Return.

  4. 24

    अग्निर्ज्योतिरहः शुक्लः षण्मासा उत्तरायणम् । तत्र प्रयाता गच्छन्ति ब्रह्म ब्रह्मविदो जनाः ॥ ८-२४॥

    Fire, light, daytime, the birght forrnight (Shukla Paksh ), the six months of the Northern solstice (uttarayan) -by following this Path, persons who are knowers of Bramh attain Bramh when they die.

  5. 25

    धूमो रात्रिस्तथा कृष्णः षण्मासा दक्षिणायनम् । तत्र चान्द्रमसं ज्योतिर्योगी प्राप्य निवर्तते ॥ ८-२५॥

    Smoke, night, as also the dark fortnight (Krishna paksh) and the six months of the Southern solstice (dakshidayan) -following this Path the yogi having reached the lunar light, returns.
