    एकसाले स्थाणुमतीं विनते गोमतीं नदीम् | कलिङ्गनगरे चापि प्राप्य सालवनं तदा || २-७१-१६

    Having crossed the rivers Sthanumati at Ekasala and Gomati at Vinata villages, he ( Bharata ) reached in the sala forest in Kalinganagara. [2-71-16]

    भरतः क्षिप्रमागच्छत्सुपरिश्रान्तवाहनः | वनं च समतीत्याशु शर्वर्यामरुणोदये || २-७१-१७

    Thereafter as his horses were extremely tired he rested for a while ( in the sala forest in Kalinganagara ) before he speedily set out (again). He passed quickly through the forest at night and at sunrise..... - [2-71-17]

    अयोध्यां मनुना राज्ञा निर्मितां स ददर्श ह | तां पुरीं पुरुषव्याघ्रः सप्तरात्रोषितः पथि || २-७१-१८

    अयोध्यामग्रतो दृष्ट्वा सारथिं वाक्यमब्रवीत् | एषा नातिप्रतीता मे पुण्योद्याना यशस्विनी || २-७१-१९

    - saw Ayodhaya before him. He said to the charioteer : - ' It is not so clear, a city of sacred gardens and of great renown. [2-71-19]

    अयोध्या दृश्यते दूरात्सारथे पाण्डुमृत्तिका | यज्वभिर्गुणसम्पन्नैर्ब्राह्मणैर्वेदपारगैः || २-७१-२०

    Oh ! charioteer, I am able to see ( not so clearly ) Ayodhya from a distance as a heap of white clay. Virtuous brahmins and priests who perform sacrifices and who are well versed in the Vedas,..... - [2-71-20]
