    एवं योगानुभावेन दम्पत्यो रममाणयोः । शतं व्यतीयुः शरदः कामलालसयोर्मनाक् ।। ३-२३-४६ ।।

    While the couple, who eagerly longed for sexual pleasure, were thus enjoying themselves by virtue of mystic powers, a hundred autumns passed like a brief span of time. ।। 3-23-46 ।।

    तस्यामाधत्त रेतस्तां भावयन्नात्मनाऽऽत्मवित् । नोधा विधाय रूपं स्वं सर्वसङ्कल्पविद्विभुः ।। ३-२३-४७ ।।

    The powerful Kardama Muni was the knower of everyone’s heart, and he could grant whatever one desired. Knowing the spiritual soul, he regarded her as half of his body. Dividing himself into nine forms, he impregnated Devahūti with nine discharges of semen. ।। 3-23-47 ।।

    अतः सा सुषुवे सद्यो देवहूतिः स्त्रियः प्रजाः । सर्वास्ताश्चारुसर्वाङ्ग्यो लोहितोत्पलगन्धयः ।। ३-२३-४८ ।।

    Immediately afterward, on the same day, Devahūti gave birth to nine female children, all charming in every limb and fragrant with the scent of the red lotus flower. ।। 3-23-48 ।।

    पतिं सा प्रव्रजिष्यन्तं तदाऽऽलक्ष्योशती सती । स्मयमाना विक्लवेन हृदयेन विदूयता ।। ३-२३-४९ ।।

    When she saw her husband about to leave home, she smiled externally, but at heart she was agitated and distressed. ।। 3-23-49 ।।

    लिखन्त्यधोमुखी भूमिं पदा नखमणिश्रिया । उवाच ललितां वाचं निरुध्याश्रुकलां शनैः ।। ३-२३-५० ।।

    She stood and scratched the ground with her foot, which was radiant with the luster of her gemlike nails. Her head bent down, she spoke in slow yet charming accents, suppressing her tears. ।। 3-23-50 ।।
