    ततः समुत्थितः काल्यमास्थाय स्यन्दनोत्तमम् | प्रययौ भरतः शीघ्रं रामदर्शनकाङ्क्षया || २-८३-१

    Getting up at dawn, Bharata boarded his excellent chariot and set forth swiftly, longing to see Rama. [2-83-1]

    अग्रतः प्रययुस्तस्य सर्वे मन्त्रिपुरोधसः | अधिरुह्य हयैर्युक्तान्रथान्सूर्यरथोपमान् || २-८३-२

    All the ministers and priests went ahead of Bharata mounting their chariots, harnessed with horses and resembling the chariot of the Sun god. [2-83-2]

    नवनागसहस्राणि कल्पितानि यथाविधि | अन्वयुर्भरतं यान्तमिक्ष्वाकुकुलनन्दनम् || २-८३-३

    As per tradition, nine thousand elephants were arranged to follow Bharata, delight of the race of the Ikshvakus as he set out. [2-83-3]

    षष्टी रथसहस्राणि धन्विनो विविधायुधाः | अन्वयुर्भरतं यान्तं राजपुत्रं यशस्विनम् || २-८३-४

    Sixty thousands chariots and many archers holding weapons of every kind followed the illustrious prince Bharata as he went. [2-83-4]

    शतं सहस्राण्यश्वानां समारूढानि राघवम् | अन्वयुर्भरतं यान्तं सत्यसन्धं जितेन्द्रियम् || २-८३-५

    One hundred thousand horses each mounted by a rider followed Bharata, one who had conquered his passion and adhered to truth. [2-83-5]
