    अकीर्तिश्चातुला लोके ध्रुवः परिभवश्च मे | सर्वभूतेषु चावज्ञा यथा पापकृतस्तथा || २-१२-९६

    You have brought me, for sure, unparalleled dishonour and disgrace. Everybody will look upon me with contempt as if I have committed a sinful act. [2-12-96]

    कथम् रथैर्विभुर्गत्वा गजाश्वैश्च मुहुर्मुहुः | पद्भ्याम् रामो महारण्ये वत्सो मे विचरिष्यति || २-१२-९७

    How will my son, Rama, who used to ride on chariots, elephants and horses roam the wilderness barefoot? [2-12-97]

    यस्य त्वाहारसमये सूदाः कुण्डलधारिणः | अहम्पुर्वाः पचन्ति स्म प्रशस्तम् पानभोजनम् || २-१२-९८

    For whose dining time, the cooks with kundalas ( earrings ) in their ears used to proudly prepare enough food and beverages,..... - [2-12-98 ]

    स कथन्नु कषायाणि तिक्तानि कटुकानि च | भक्षयन्वन्यमाहारम् सुतो मे वर्तयिष्यति || २-१२-९९

    - how will that my son subsist on astringent, pungent, bitter wild fruits and roots? [2-12-99]

    महार्हवस्त्रसम्वीतो भूत्वा चिरसुखोषितः | काशायपरिधानस्तु कथम् भूमौ निवत्स्यति || २-१२-१००

    How will he who was habituated to wearing expensive apparels and to (royal) comforts over a long period of time live (sleep) on the ground, putting on saffron robes? [2-12-100]
